Displaying prices

The seller must present a selling price that is not misleading, so that the consumer clearly understands what they can expect to receive for that price.

Make sure the price is clear: what is included in the price?

The company must include all additional costs in the selling price where possible. If the selling price does not include all costs, the company must clearly list these costs separately. The consumer must expressly agree to these additional costs.

Examples of additional costs:

Turnover tax (BBO)

In Aruba, sellers must state prices inclusive of BBO (turnover tax). Sellers may not display prices that exclude BBO. Example: If a product costs Afl. 108 including BBO, the seller must display the price as Afl. 108 incl. BBO. A seller may not display the price as Afl. 100 excl. BBO.

Do You Call Something Free?

If you, as a seller, describe something as “free,” “free of charge,” or “at no cost,” consumers do not have to pay for it. They also do not have to provide anything in return, such as their contact details. You may not mislead a consumer.
