1. Cartels
Companies or trade associations are not allowed to make agreements on prices, markets or customers. Such cartels undermine fair competition. Cartel behavior can be reported to AFTA. In certain cases, it is possible to submit a request for an exemption for a form of cooperation, for example where the cooperation leads to benefits for consumers that outweigh the restriction of competition.
- Compensation for distortion of competition
In cases of distortion of competition, a company breaches the rules of fair competition, for example by entering into cartel agreements. As a business owner, you may suffer financial harm, such as paying prices that are higher than they should be. Compensation is a payment intended to remedy this harm.
- Recognizing competition distortion by cartels
A Cartel exists when companies or trade associations enter into agreements that restrict and distort competition, such as price-fixing, market sharing, or the allocation of customer between them. These agreements are prohibited because they are harmful to consumers, other businesses, and the economy as a whole. Cartels often result in higher prices and reduced choice.
