Mission and goal

Mission

The mission of the AFTA is: “Making markets work for the benefit of consumers and businesses in Aruba.”
As an independent authority in Aruba, the AFTA oversees free and undistorted competition. By consistently carrying out the statutory tasks assigned to it with regard to general competition supervision, the AFTA ensures that market participants are able to compete (sometimes under certain conditions) for the favour of the consumer/customer. This stimulates economic growth and increased prosperity in Aruba.

Goal

The goal of the AFTA is to protect competition, which contributes to increasing prosperity. The AFTA does so by, on the one hand, combating anti-competitive behaviour (repressive supervision) and, on the other hand, preventing barriers to competition (preventive supervision).
